How to Use the Map

Choosing "Browse the Map" from the home page or from the navigation tabs at the top of each page, provides the ability to interact with the Mapping Layers, jump to the Dashboard Interactive map function for linking to a site that displays contract status and budget status of IDOT construction contracts. or Zoom to an Area.  

 

 

 

 

The tabs - Mapping and Zoom to An Area - provide different menus for choosing map features or interacting with the map.

 

Mapping Tab -

 

1.  Use the zoom in, zoom out and pan buttons at the top of the page to navigate to a location on the map.  Hold the left mouse down and draw a box at the desired location to zoom in on the map.

 

 

Zoom to An Area Tab -

2.  Click on the "Zoom to Area" tab and select the area - county, city or legislative district  that you want to zoom on the map.

 

 

3.  After zooming in to a location, mapping layers can be viewed by clicking on a category and checking a layer.  Once a layer is turned on, the map will redraw with the new information.

 

 

4.  To view further information on a symbol, click the identify button and then click on the map symbol.  A window will open and provide additional information about the mapped symbol.  

 

 

 

5.  To view other areas, use the Map Tools to navigate to other areas of the map or click the "Zoom to Area" tab to quickly jump to an area on the map.
